Documentation for DMI Open data
Welcome to the Danish Meteorological Institute's (DMI) Open Data API.
Our Open Data API's provide free and open access to DMI’s data. Here you can find all the information you need to register as a user and start using the API. You can also access information on data sources as well as the OpenAPI specification of the API's.
The forecast EDR API endpoint /collections/...collection name.../grib will be removed at November 1st 2026.
To reduce operating costs, the /collections/...collection name.../grib endpoint is being retired.
Intermittent service disruptions may occur from approximately two weeks before 1 November, allowing API consumers time to prepare for the endpoint’s retirement.
The same functionality can be implemented by downloading the required GRIB messages directly from the GRIB files, as described in the STAC-API documentation on GRIB index files for partial downloads.
