Nedbørrig januar med underskud af sol
Med en månedsmiddeltemperatur for landet som helhed på -0.4˚C blev januar 2004 lidt under normalgennemsnittet (0.0˚C) for perioden 1961-90. Månedens højeste temperatur 8˚C blev målt i Sønderjylland den 11., og månedens laveste temperatur, -18.0˚C, blev registreret i Midtjylland, om morgenen den 30.
Nedbøren i januar 2004 i gennemsnit ud over landet blev hele 98 mm. Det er 72 % over normalen. Mest nedbør fik Ribe Amt med omkring 130 mm (norm 68) i gennemsnit, og mindst nedbør fik Vestsjællands Amt med knap 70 mm (norm 46) i gennemsnit.
Solen skinnede i gennemsnit ud over landet i januar 2004 i 35 timer. Det er 18 % under normalgennemsnittet. Mest sol, næsten 60 timer, forekom på Bornholm, og mindst sol var der på Skagen 21 timer
Vejret i februar 2004 - statistisk set
En næsten normal januar, som i år, følges rent statistisk af en varm februar med 20% sandsynlighed, og der er 65% chance for en normal februar, og således 15% chance for en kold februar. Februar kaldes varm, når månedsmiddeltem-peraturen kommer over 1.5˚C, og det sker for februar i en fjerdedel af alle tilfælde over mange år.
Ozonmålinger i København i januar 2004
Ozonmængden i atmosfæren lå, med lavere gennemsnitslufttryk end normalt i januar 2004, 1% under gennemsnittet over perioden 1979-88.

The weather in Denmark - January 2004
Rainy January with sunshine deficit
With a monthly mean temperature of -0.4˚C in the country as a whole, January 2004 was a little below average mean (0.0˚C) during the period from 1961 to 1990. Highest temperature of the month 8˚C was registered in Southern Jutland the 11. January, and lowest temperature, -18.0˚C, was registered in the middle parts of Jutland on the morning of the 30. January.
Accumulated precipitation in January 2004 for the country as a whole was 98 mm. 72% above average. Ribe County received the largest quantity of rainfall with an average or approx. 130 mm (normally 68mm), while Westsealand only received an average of approx. 70 mm (normally 46mm).
Average sunshine hours in Denmark was 35 hours. 18% below average. Most sunshine – almost 60 hours – was registered on Bornholm, and the lowest amount of sunshine hours – 21 hours - was registered in Skagen.
Statistical forecast for February 2004
After an almost normal January statistics predict a 20% chance of a warm February. The chances of a normal February are 65% and thus there is a 15% chance of a cold February. The month of February is defined warm when the mean temperature gets above 1.5˚C – this only happens in a quarter of all cases in a long row of years.
Ozone Measurements in Copenhagen in January 2004
The Concentration of ozone in the atmosphere was below average air pressure in January 2004 - 1% below average during the period of 1979 to 1988.
